Life on Lake Titicaca is the closest Bolivia
gets to a maritime culture (not surprising for a landlocked country).
People fish, collect reeds for traditional totora boat making, tend
fish-farms, repair boats and nets, and are rugged sailors. With no other
coastline to protect, Bolivia's only naval bases are in Tiquina and
Copacabana.
Party culture has also developed uniquely here. With
beach-side villages only a kilometer or so apart, why not hop in the
boat and do a little party-hopping?
