Isla del Sol is the setting for the Inca creation story and is believed to be the birthplace of the sun.

This beach, beneath the ruins of an Incan temple complex, was an excellent base to explore ancient ceremonial grounds and the Sacred Rock of the Puma at the northern tip of the island.

After lunch, we couldn't bring ourselves to leave this tropical paradise. Its white sand, gently lapping waves and balmy breezes made it an ideal campsite.
