Although chilly, a brilliantly clear day greeted us for the trip up to the trail head and lasted until early afternoon, when low clouds and icy winds blew in.

Huayna Potosi is one of eight stunning peaks in the Cordillera Real. Only a few hours drive north of the Bolivian Capitol, La Paz, we began our trek on the far side of the mountain, down in the Zongo Valley.
